This is Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu -- every time I listen to him, I tear up, can't help it:
No fucking censorship. Ever.

I don't know that this counts as "roots", but this song is a very important one to Australians:
No fucking censorship. Ever.

It's about Gurrumul's relationship with the Rainbow Serpent (called Wititj in the Yolngu language) and his ancestral lands -- the English translation is:
Quote:I was carried by mother Wititj
I am a rainbow child
I am a rainbow child, with a rainbow,
carried by Wititj, with a rainbow
Emerged from there, from the water lilies
Gudjuk emerged, from fresh water Garrimala Dhupula
I am a rainbow child, with a rainbow
carried by Wititj, with a rainbow, a child of the rainbow
in the 1950s my dad looked around
towards Muwalangallili, Yanayanayu Wurrumbayu Malpitjinuyu (these are place names in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, but I don't know what the English translation is, sorry)
I am a rainbow child, with rainbow
carried by Wititj, with rainbow
I am Maralitja Dhar'yuna with my ancestors
I am a child conceived and carried by Wititj
a rainbow child, with a rainbow
No fucking censorship. Ever.

This
doesn't count but it's interesting:
No fucking censorship. Ever.
