I have never gotten into gaming on the PC in a big way. But about ten years ago, I saw the game "Mafia" in a bargain bin and it was really inexpensive and so I bought it just for a laugh.
Well, the laugh was on me because I thought it was a fantastically great game. I guess you would call it an "Action-Adventure" game. I thought most everything about it was excellent. I spent almost 4 weeks before I grew tired of it.
I'd love to find another game that was as much fun as Mafia. I am posting this thread in the hope that some people here may know of some PC games available that are in the same league as Mafia and who can recommend some to me.
I really don't care for shooting games at all. There is some shooting in Mafia but it is very little and it is integrated into the story.
Mafia is a very long story and you have to solve a number of problems and puzzles to progress to the end. When you reach the end, you get a large number of bonus prizes like much faster cars. So you can explore the city but drive at speeds almost double the speeds you have been driving. I had never experieced a game like Mafia before or since.
Grand Theft Auto is the one game that seems to come to mind. I've never really tried it. But it seems like it would be very highly repetitive to me. It seems like there is only really one or two problems to be solved in that game and they are to rip off people for their cars.
But can anyone recommend any games you think I might enjoy?
Thanks.
