I keep reading on Reddit about all the awful things about the game— and the trouble customers are having with the merch they've bought, but...they discounted the game by 1/3 and I just went ahead and bought it. I also waited for a large patch that was released yesterday before I made the purchase. So, my experience may not be like others you have heard about, but in all fairness, my experience is more likely to reflect what is currently going on than some others you may have heard.
Beauty
First of all, the game is decidedly beautiful! I mean, this is the reason I built a gaming PC. The detail is breathtaking and the world is humongous! Player interaction is well done and so far, the challenges have been reasonable and made sense.
Frustration
On the negative side, after playing most of the day yesterday, I counted 6-8 hard crashes (read: lost data/save) and the game crashes every time you exit...every, single, time. That is frustrating, to say the least.
Also, I was disconnected from the server at least three times throughout the day.
Hope
All that to the side, I think I am going to love this game. I have played Fallout for years and the online twist is what I needed to breath new life into the game.
Recommendation: Wait for a few more bug patches to spend the money.
As it stands: 3/5 If the bugs were patched: 4.5/5 no kidding, great game.

My C.A.M.P.
Throughout the game, you unlock many different items that you can build in your C.A.M.P. (basically your house)
I leave my base unlocked so other travelers can stop by and use my crafting tables and grab some free purified water too!
My Bedroom

Waiting on the Queen
This is a screen shot I took in-game after I had launched my first nuke. This is about fifteen players waiting for the 2 minute warning to run out— waiting on the nuke to drop— waiting on the Scorchbeast Queen to show her ugly face

A couple of people are saying that The Long Dark this is one of the most realistic survival games ever made. I don't necessarily agree with that on every level, but I have to say it is a lot of fun.
There are two modes: the story mode, where you have goals to get to the next part of the story; and then in survival mode, you just have to stay alive. As they say in the game, there is only one outcome in survival mode.

Overall, it is a pretty great game. The graphics are on par for today's free roamers. The gameplay can be a little tedious (get ready for a lot of straight walking) and some of the quests are really just hunting and gathering (that you would have to do any way to survive.)
Still playing after a couple of weeks and so far, I would give it 6/10.
I'm just getting started with Outward, but it is already pretty damn cool. It is also very difficult. For starters, there is no way to really save the game. The good news is, when I've died, so far, I still get to keep all of my stuff. After a few frustrating tries and restarts, I made it through the first quest and now I'm pretty much able just to explore, hunt, and gather.
Although not the most beautiful RPG I've played, it has its moments. The strength of the visuals is that the devs weren't afraid of to surrender to the darkness. Within caves, there is no false light like in some dungeon crawlers. The feeling of absolute darkness overwhelms you.
All in all, I'm fairly impressed with it, so far. Too bad my Oculus Rift S will be here tomorrow. It might be a while before I get to play this, again.
I've just started playing this, and I know its an older game, but I really enjoy it. It is very relaxing and actually is engaging enough to take my mind off things for half an hour.
I play the "ladder" every day after work. Here is my stats from today. (As you can see, I am not that great )
