I see that many of you have become frustrated with the minimum message length set to 5 characters. It has been decreased to 3 characters due to the nature of many of the threads (especially forum games.)

So it is no longer necessary to use all those spacing tags in your posts Wink

    A New Toy

Anything that makes sharing easier and more convenient is a good thing in my opinion. That's why I wanted to make a way to share torrents easier on this site.

With the new torrent tags you can insert a tag into your post with info on a torrent as well as torrent page/download/magnet links . . . and thanks to sporkium it looks great Smile

    How To Use Them

In the New Reply window, just click the [Image: tpb.gif] button and then paste the torrent URL or 7-digit ID # into the textbox and click OK.

Note: The URL can be the long version (with description), the short version or just the torrent ID number as shown below:

Give it a try and tell us what you think Smile

I always found it hard to get my marquees right in one try. Inputting those numbers is a lot of guesswork and usually I just wound up editing the marquee directly- thus defeating the purpose of the Customize Marquee Window.

So I installed a preview frame below the controls so that you can adjust your marquee and see the changes before you post it.

If your window doesn't look like this than you may need to refresh the page or clear your browser's cache.

    I hope this helps. Smile

Many of the new members might not know Aish, but she was the first member of the site (besides me) and also is a former administrator here. Aish has been missing for some time due to illness in the family and has asked me to share this message with you guys concerning the situation with her son.

Aish is a very spiritual person and I know she would appreciate us sending good thoughts and prayers her way.

We are thinking of you, Aish! Sad

The staff have been working hard to bring a fresh face to the forum and I think everyone involved did an excellent job!

Almost every image you see in the new theme was designed by stormium, zeberzee tirelessly rejected ideas until he was satisfied (he always gets his way) and Togapie and Bunny81 have been testing like true soldiers Smile

So tell us what you think of the new look, feedback is always welcome.

I have also added a theme selector to the bottom of every page so that you can toggle between themes much more easily.

For those of you who don't know, Rant Central has a dedicated IRC channel. If you ever need site help you can always log into the channel at EFNet and find someone to help you out.

For those of you who don't have an IRC client installed we have added a built-in webchat feature that allows you to connect to our channel directly without the need of installing a client.

Webchat doesn't work for all browser/OS combinations so if it doesn't work in your browser there is no need to make a support thread.

To join in on the fun in RC's IRC channel just click the [Image: chat_green.png] Chat link in the header and then click 'Connect'.

    Enjoy Smile

Sometimes you might want to give a user reputation for a specific post. I generally always just copy the URL into the comment box, but now there is a better way Smile

Just click the [Image: postbit_reputation.gif] button on every post to rate the member and leave a link to the post that you are giving them reputation for!

So go ahead and try it out! Smile

It has been a long time coming, but as many of you have experienced, we have outgrown our free hosting package and now it is time to upgrade.

    Special Thanks to HTorrentz

My friend and founder of Kickass Radio has taken up the Rant Central cause as a sponsor and we are very proud. Please take time to visit Kickass Radio and rep our friend HTorrentz for being such a nice guy Smile

The new host will be much more stable and should solve a lot of our page loading issues.

    What to expect:

In the next 24 hours (whenever I get around to it :p ) I will shut this site down for a bit in order to get things ready at the new site. When this site comes back up it will redirect to the new address: www.rantcentralforums.com

Once the move is completed be sure to update your bookmarks with new address because the redirect will not last forever.

So get ready to move folks Smile

Due to recent events I now realize that there might be good reason to allow a user to contact the entire staff at one time privately. So I created an Account Issues forum. Only staff can see the threads there- you won't see other members threads and they won't see yours.

I would also like to note that those awaiting activation can post threads in this forum for assistance. Banned members can even post here to request the lifting of a self-imposed ban (for example) Wink

I hope that this will give you guys a direct line to us- as all staff can see your posts you are sure to get help sooner than waiting on one staff member to get online.

    Private Messages

We also had a ban for posting PMs per the rules. Because of this I realized that if a user receives a threatening PM (or some other rule-breaker) then they have no outlet because of the rules.

If you want to complain of a PM, create a thread in the Account Issues forum and then wait for a moderator or administrator to answer.
