    BBC Civilisation (1969)

Civilisation — in full, Civilisation: A Personal View by Kenneth Clark—is a television documentary series outlining the history of Western art, architecture and philosophy since the Dark Ages. The series was produced by the BBC and aired in 1969 on BBC2. Both the television scripts and the accompanying book version were written by art historian Lord Kenneth Clark (1903–1983), who also presented the series. The series is considered to be a landmark in British Television's broadcasting of the visual arts.

The BBC remastered the original films onto HD in 2011. The series was re-broadcast on the BBC HD channel from 9 February to 4 May 2011, and shortly after was released on Blu-Ray. (More information @ Wikipedia)

    Apocalypse World War I

This is a 5 part series directed by Isabelle Clarke and Daniel Costelle, with excellent archival footage and narration to go with. I watched part 3 - 'Hell' - today (details in link below). It was just poignant and mesmerizing. The horrid tales of the soldiers is truly numbing. It is currently being aired on TV (in many countries I should guess).

The directors' earlier successful series 'Apocalypse: The Second World War' is available for download on TPB.

    The Century of Warfare (1994)

The series endeavours to overview the entire century of world conflict from the turn or the century (1900) until the Gulf War in 1990/91. It covers every major conflict, as well as reviewing inter-war periods and military build-ups. It also examines lesser known theatres of major wars.

According to the official website, "An unparalleled collection of military and historical archives has been assembled from the USA, Japan, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Russia, to contribute to this epic work."
