Thank you for this recommendation, Ali. I'll see if I can find it, as it sounds like the kind of film I'd love. Have you ever seen Detour*? It's a strange hour-long noir from 1945 about a guy who picks up a hitchhiking femme fatale. It's deeply flawed (scratches on the print, abrupt cuts) but that somehow adds to its creepy, mysterious appeal.

I always arrange films alphabetically. Don't ever trust online user reviews. Some of the crappiest films ever have come highly recommended by internet ratings. I still can't get over the fact that Sex Lives of the Potato Men scored 4/5 on AmazonBig Grin

You make some real good points, Heslopian. I thank you.

I will arrange the films alphbetically. That is good advice. But I will include the year as the first four digits so that people who want to sort the list chronologically will have little trouble to do so.

I think the reason was that in order for me to like a film, if it includes a female romantic interest, I have to find her attractive. But I didn't find that one to be very attractive. She always came across as needing to wash her face. Also, the film just didn't seem very believable to me. If I'm not mistaken, the male lead is driving along a highway and stops to pick up a female hitchhiker who then takes control of his life. It just didn't seem very believable. But I did watch the whole film.

I can't argue with any of your points because I agree with them. It is unbelievable and Ann Savage is a shrill horror. She's not so much a femme fatale as just a fataleBig Grin But I like Detour because of those flaws and others, weirdly. I almost suspect that, because the film is narrated by Tom Neal, what we see isn't quite what happened, that maybe he's exaggerating Savage's nastiness and dominance to help him cope with what happens throughout the story.

Hmmm .... Near Dark and The Thing both look like pretty good. I think I will watch them soon.

I know many of the others but will try to watch some of them again because it's been a long time since I last saw them.

Thanks very much for posting them.

Thank you for this threadSmile Your opening post is a pretty exhaustive list of movies, which I'll enjoy picking through. I was tempted to put Melinda and Melinda on my list, if only because it's a perfect Woody Allen film which is sorely underrated, in my opinion.

You are correct. I completely forgot about that one.

Damn! This thread is now too long. I had no idea there was a limit on the size of a thread in this forum.

Or maybe it's the size of an individual post. But the limit is around 64K.
