Hurricane Headline
The headline today (Mon Oct 29, 2012) in the Drudge report is: "Ocean Becomes Bay".

I don't understand what that means.

Can anyone here suggest an explanation? I just don't get it.

A bay is an inlet from an Ocean. The dictionary defines "Bay" as:

Bay - a body of water forming an indentation of the shoreline, larger than a cove but smaller than a gulf.

So, what are they saying? The hurricane caused the ocean near NYC to become ... ???

I don't get it.

Can anyone help me?

RE: Hurricane Headline
they are probably referring to the storm surge.... rotating storms exert force outwards from their center... since water need's to level itself, the water outside the storm pushes the water back in which causes an elevated wall of water (storm surge)... which can breach coastal storm defenses.
