EMI Sues Irish State For Not Implementing Piracy Blocking Provisions

After failing last year in its attempt to force a local Internet service provider to block online piracy, a major record label is now taking on a much bigger opponent. Yesterday, EMI Records filed a lawsuit against the Irish state for not fulfilling its obligations under European law which would otherwise allow for the “blocking, diverting or interrupting of internet communications” which breach copyright law.

Won't or will never work. To save my fingers. read the Irish Constitution and every single case since it's inception.
Ireland can never capitulate to companies / corporations for the simple reason. The Irish by their very nature are averse to change.
If they don't understand it, even more so.
We are the most neutral country in Europe (Even though we have and still do turn a blind eye to rendition).

Eircom has capitulated. The smaller ISP's may. The rest.
It's an exercise in "LOOk,.... I REALLY DO EXIST"!!!

    ok update

Illegal downloading to be curbed by Government order

THE GOVERNMENT is set to tackle illegal downloading of music and films in January by plugging a gap in the Republic’s laws that allows internet users access to sites that “pirate” this material.

Minister of State for Enterprise Seán Sherlock is to publish an order early in the new year that is expected to allow music publishers, film producers and other parties to go to court to prevent internet service providers from allowing their customers access to pirate websites.
