Dynamic MAC?
Hi all,

i've asked this question previously on SB and got a definitive answer from kjf:

Q. Can you mask or make your MAC address dynamic or untraceable?

His answer was an definite no!!

Now, i'm the kind of person who questions everything. Tonight, i witnessed a dynamic MAC address being utilised (Don't ask what for Smile ).
The fucker point blank refuses to tell me how it's done.
There are many S/W programmes out there that supposedly hide your MAC but, in my experience, none of them can actually do it.

So i throw this open because i don't have a clue how to do it but i know it can be done.

Any suggestions????Big Grin

RE: Dynamic MAC?
hmmm... i'm not sure what you mean by 'hidden.'

if the mac was 'hidden,' how did you see it?

RE: Dynamic MAC?
Dual screen. One watched outgoing "reach", second watched "incoming".
I'm in no way familiar with the TEC involved but what i've been told. The MAC address is specific to your MB.
Tonight i was shown (on screen) "A Work - Around" in real time.

I'm baffled how he (Actually a SHE) done it and they won't tell me how it's done!!??

RE: Dynamic MAC?
hmmm... still kinda lost by this. are you talking about 'spoofing' your mac address?

"Spoofing" is very easily done as i'm sure you know.
"Masking" your MAC address is a little harder Wink

RE: Dynamic MAC?
hmmm.... spoofing and masking to me are kind of the same thing. you don't believe you can change your mac address, all you can do is kind of hide it... this method works on freebsd and most *nix systems.

like:

sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr 00:01:02:03:04:05

or

sudo ifconfig en0 ether 00:01:02:03:04:05

but... its probably easier with a program. to do it.

RE: Dynamic MAC?
I've seen that before (or similar) stormium.
It seems to be a "taboo" to actually say that someone can "mask it".

The link below is just 1 of the 1000's of Apps. that say they can mask/hide it.
But none work!?!?

RE: Dynamic MAC?
i would be surprised if they did work... you aren't suppose to be able to change that address... technically, it would be considered a hack.

i suppose, to change the mac address, the first step (besides double checking my posts for grammar or sense) would be starting with figuring out how a mac address is assigned... and moving forward from there.

its probably easier on a windows machine.

Fucking bitch was winding me up Stormy. It can't be done.
She knows i've been trying to find a way of doing it and, as she's knows more about computers than me (wouldn't be hard,) she decided to pull a fast one on me Dodgy

RE: Dynamic MAC?
i wouldn't say 'can't....'

its probably just really technical.... technical enough to put me to sleep. Tongue

i'd say give one of those trial programs from cnet a shot and see what happens.... or, better yet... find a cracked version Big Grin
